International Regatta Racing team sponsorship

Salom has a commitment to sustainable energy and whilst wind power has a key role to play in energy generation, we never expected to be directly involved ourselves! This changed when we were approached to sponsor the ‘Taiwan Motorola Feng Ren Team’ in the “Belt and Road” International Regatta.

The Regatta was founded in 2019 with events held in China, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia. This includes many water sports activities including International J/80 class racing. The J/80 is a 26ft fixed keel sportsboat certified for offshore sailing with a large 65 m2 (700 sq ft) gennaker for downwind sailing. This was an ideal sponsorship opportunity that we were excited to support when requested. Salom has been supplying power products to Motorola Mobility for in-box sales for in excess of 30 years and has licensed numerous power product categories for accessories sale, so we were extremely pleased to help ‘TurboPower’ the team!

In 2020, numerous events were planned but this could only be held from November 13th to 15th, 2020 in Beihai, China due to the CV-19 Pandemic. A total of 16 sailing teams entered the competition, with participants from China, the United States, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The sailing was challenging due to an approaching typhoon, but after three days of hard work the team were awarded with fifth place. Congratulations to the team and we look forwards to continuing our support in 2021!
