Project planning
There are many stages to successful product development, but it all starts with the project plan.
The New Product Development (NPD) gate phases on the critical path vary by customer, so the project plan is critical to align these requirements to ensure that timetables are met, budgets not exceeded and products remain viable propositions in a changing marketplace.
Development planning
During the design, the engineering team refines the design to best meet the product specification. Now, the detailed exhaustive project requirements are assembled that will underpin development. This includes alignment on manufacturing service and testing criteria.
Design for manufacture
Design for manufacture is an essential stage of the development process. This checks manufacturability (such as raw material/component suitability, dimensional tolerances and secondary processing ) to ensure that the final product is suitable for volume manufacture to optimise manufacturing costs.
Testing verification
Comprehensive testing of the product from prototype to manufacturing release takes place to evaluate the robustness of the design and its ability to meet the product specification. Once complete, we can release it to mass production and pass it to production management.
